Writing Meeting Tomorrow night at Dragon Art
I am excited to create a new writing group. I really miss my friends from past groups when we lived in Sheridan. I am hoping the new group can get me motivated and producing more books. I think the accountability of belonging to a writing group is what I really need to be successful. This group has only been meeting a few weeks and I have already finished one book and am working on at least seven other projects. I really needed the jump start. The meeting starts at 5:30 or 6. It is a pot luck for snacks, if you like to munch while you write. (We usually get them out after the first hour, when we switch to work time.) We are asking for a $5. donation to attend. This goes towards books, the space, and maybe we will decide to sponsor a fall writing contest for kids? It's a donation, of course you can attend if you don't have five dollars. Don't let that be the reason you stay away. We are looking for a few more writers or illustrators to join us.
The first hour: we share writing/illustrating news, do some prompts, critique work, share goals, etc. Then we break up to work on individual projects, unless someone is close to being finished then we could be having an editing session to help them find any mistakes before sending it out, or self publishing.

I have been designing the pages for "After you are asleep." in my dreams. It must be time to work on that children's book. It is a story...well poem I wrote for my daughter Jessalynn several years ago. It is about how I miss so much of her as I rush around her and away from her working and going to school during the day, and that after she is asleep it is too late. I think it is timely and relevant with more and more families having to have all parents working. I really want to do the pictures in pastels (chalk). I used to be pretty good with charcoal and pastels, but I am out of practice and a little intimidated. I am hoping I can pull off what I envision.

As we move into the new building and start camps, we are also working on a deal for publishing equiptment. I may have found the equipment for perfect binding from someone who is willing to make a deal. Since my local publisher retired, I have been unable to find anyone able to bind my children's books. We may be able to do it in the new shop. I am excited by the possibilities.

We leased a building and are opening soon. While the shelving is not in
yet, we are taking registration starting Monday, for summer camps .
This is not the complete list of classes, just the list of camp classes.
Each class will have multiple projects every day. For instance, our
henna camp will start out with a watercolor henna design painting, for
students to learn about the patterns and routes of henna design. The
next day they will practice their techniques while using the designs
decorating gourds. The next day we will work on space and composition
while painting (?TBA). The fourth day they will use craft henna (henna
paste without essential oils) to stain wood boxes with their designs. On
the last day they will practice henna on each other. There will be mini
lessons throughout, and hints about the tricks I have learned. Each of
our camps will build up the students skills, until the student has the
opportunity to show what they have learned in a final project. Each camp
has limited space. So let me know if you see one you want. We will be
adding a regular class schedule later on in the month. Make sure to
check back often because we have teachers coming to teach all kinds of
fun things! From Polly teaching sewing, crafter Karen Ledbetter
traveling from Idaho to teach doll making in our doll camp, to several
local jewelry makers and illustrators each teaching their own classes it
is going to be a full summer of arts and crafts.

Busy
I have been really busy, finishing projects, teaching, and launching new business ventures. Vending Magazine is currently in the last stages of production and editing. It was placed on hold because we were hoping to launch it with our moving into a new building. As that did not work out, we have put it back into production but I am adding another 10 pages, of really fun projects and information that I have gathered since then. I just want it to be really great before I publish it.
In the mean time another project has snuck up and started to finish itself and is also almost ready to publish. It is so strange how that happens with me. I will start a book and put it aside for something more exciting at the moment, and then it becomes exciting to me again and I can't stop working on it till it is done. I may be publishing both projects in the next few weeks.
If you want a sneak peek at some of what I am working on I started three new blogs today. Two are book blogs, set up just for the two books. The other blog is for my business. I found out in a book writing conference that it is a good idea to have blogs for your books to help advertize them. So I am going to try it out. Check them out and see what you think.

Maybe a store front of our own
WOW! A lot has happened in two months. Production of Vending Magazine is on hold due to the possible opening of Dragon Arts Gallery and Craft Store. We will keep you posted if everything goes through. Cross your fingers. This may be really fun!
